Deepavali,is a festival celebrated by all Hindus to commemorate Lord Rama and his wife, Sita’s return to Ayodhya after his 14-year exile. It was a dark night when they first returned hence his people lit their houses with little lamps (diyas) so that Rama and Sita could find their way. In many parts of India, the festivities start with Dhanteras  followed by Naraka Chaturdasi on second day, Deepavali or laksmi Pujan on the third day, Diwali Padva dedicated to wife–husband relationship on the fourth day, and festivities end with Bhau-Beej dedicated to sister–brother bond on the fifth day.

Sikh Festival Deepavali
In Sikh perspective, Diwali is celebrated as the return of the sixth Guru, Guru Hargobind Ji from the captivity of the city, Gwalior. To commemorate his undying love for Sikhism, the towns people lit the way to, Harmandhir Sahib (referred to as the Golden Temple), in his honour.
